NICOLE BADE

Nicole Bade was born in a small log cabin on Whidbey Island in 1983. She began writing poetry in the form of insulting limericks (usually pertaining to her Mother's employers) at age six. She wrote stories and novels until age fourteen, when she realized that poems took a lot less time to finish, and could thereafter be immediately performed.
She began competing in youth Poetry Slams at the SPLAB! where she won many Slams and met many poets. At age sixteen Nicole competed for a place on the Seattle Youth Slam Team (who would represent Seattle at the National Youth Poetry Slam). At the final deciding Slam, she placed first, and was put on the National Team. The Team made it to the final round at Nationals and placed fifth in the Country.
Most of the poetry enclosed in this book is a reflection of Nicole's ongoing involvement in human rights activism.
